Orton Gillingham is the prescription for dyslexia; OG is how all people learn literacy according to the science of learning. OG is highly beneficial for 80% of children/teens/people, but is absolutely required for people with dyslexia. A small population of gifted early readers may not require OG, but it is not harmful to any student. 1-2% of children with neurodiversities may not respond to OG, but may need visual based literacy.
There were two international nonprofit groups that Dr. Orton’s leadership team started in the 1930s. One focused more on educator support and training professionalism. The Orton Academy:

The other also focuses on student and family advocacy: The International Dyslexia Association. Here is an article on structured literacy, Orton Gillingham is one type, a more robust type of structured literacy. The term structured literacy is a recent term coined by IDA within the past 2-3 years. https://dyslexiaida.org/what-is-structured-literacy
